Supply Drop Off/Back-to-School Night

Wednesday, August 20th - Parents and students can come and drop off school supplies, meet their teacher, and check out their new classrooms! This will be the event where you learn who your new teachers will be. The schedule is as follows:

1. 5:00-5:30pm- New Family Orientation & Welcome
2. 5:30-7:00pm- Open House & Supply Drop Off @ the Elementary

The PA is providing food trucks for dinner!

PowerSchool Registration

We have a few families who NEED to finish E-Registration. LaSalle Catholic utilizes PowerSchool as our student information system. All Forms have to be updated before students are allowed to begin school. PowerSchool E-Registration is now open.  This process collects student information such as contact information, emergency contacts, health information, and student permissions among other things.  

This E-Registration is mandatory and must be completed before students can attend school.

Volunteering

Volunteers are needed frequently throughout the school year in order to make events run. We ask that ALL families take a moment to fill out our volunteer form to show what areas you may be interested in helping out. (Completing this form does not automatically sign you up for these groups, it just gives an idea of who to reach out to should the need for help arise).  Volunteer form is here.

Tuition and Fees

Parents can sign tuition contracts, pay tuition and certain fees by logging into their FACTS account. Tuition amounts are posted in FACTS for those who have completed the tuition contract process. The first tuition payment is due in August, depending on the payment plan selected. If the payment has not been paid as scheduled, it must be paid before the first day of school. First Day of School: Monday, August 25

•  Regular dress code with dismissal at 12:00. 
• NO LUNCH WILL BE SERVED

Regular Monday–Friday School Hours: 

•  The typical school day is 8:00am - 3:00pm
•  Drop off begins at 7:30am, and all students should be in the building by 7:55am
•  Pick up is at 3:00pm, and all students should be picked up promptly unless you've signed up for the afterschool program via Tarra Stangl our ELC Director ([email protected]). There is no afterschool supervision at the elementary building.

School Drop Off: 

1. Drop off begins at 7:30am, and all students should be in the building by 7:55am

   • Breakfast will be served between 7:30-7:50 am. Students eating breakfast will grab their breakfast and eat in the cafeteria. Students NOT needing breakfast should not arrive until the 7:40am-7:50am drop off window. If students arrive at school by 8:00 or later they will be considered tardy. Students not eating breakfast will walk to their classrooms at 7:50 am and work on seatwork or prepare for the start of the school day at their seats as well before Prayer and Announcements begin following the second/ tardy bell @ 8:00 am.
     

2. Parents may walk their students to the main entrance of the building. 
3. Students will sanitize as they walk into the building before walking to their classroom at 7:50 am.
4. The first bell rings at 7:50 am.
5. The second (Tardy) bell rings at 8:00 am.

School Pick-Up Procedure:
REMINDER: Pick up is at 3:00pm, and all students should be picked up promptly. There is no afterschool supervision at the elementary building.

1. Childcare families are asked to park and walk up to the building to sign out their students from daycare. If you would like to pick up your childcare kiddo with your school-aged kiddo please let Tarra Stangl know so we can prepare them for departure. You will still need to sign them out. 
2. BLUE LINE Families picking up only students at LaSalle Catholic Elementary will enter the lot and immediately turn right. Vehicles will drive along with the parking spots just west of the church building. Vehicles will then turn left and drive along the grassy knoll, turn right and right again to use the lane between the church and the school. Please pull beyond the main entrance and stop on the left side of the lane just before reaching the playground. Whenever possible, students will enter the parked car from the driver-side rear door. Vehicles will pull forward and exit onto Edgewood by turning left from the left lane or turning right from the right lane. (Turning left may be difficult some days, and some may decide to turn right and find their way northbound on Edgewood by other means than a left turn from school.)
3. YELLOW LINE Families with students to pick up from both buildings will begin by entering the lot and driving straight north toward the baseball field. Do NOT pull into the BLUE line. Go straight ahead to help ease congestion. After passing the crosswalk, they will pull up just beyond the grass and stop at the end of the sidewalk. Whenever possible, students will enter the parked car from the passenger side rear door. These vehicles will then proceed forward and drive left along the baseball field toward LaSalle. They turn left again (south) they will merge with the other lane of traffic (also turning left and also picking up LaSalle students). They will proceed in the direction of the exit on 1st Avenue and pick up their students beyond the student entrance. As they exit, they will either pull right to turn right or pull toward the left in order to turn left.

Water Bottles:

1. Water bottles are recommended for all students in Preschool through 4th grades. Please be sure they are plastic or metal and close tightly. Glass Water bottles will not be permitted. 
2. Students will be able to refill their water bottles throughout the school day at the water bottle stations. 
3. Water bottles will be sent home each week for cleaning. 
4. Clearly mark your child's water bottle and be sure to update this often. 

Preschool Start Date for Class:

PRESCHOOL 3 and PRESCHOOL 4 AM:  Will begin class on Tuesday, August 26th. 

1. PreK-3: 8:00-11:00am
2. PreK-4-PM: 12:00-3:00pm

Dress Code
Dress Code for 2025-2026– Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, our school dress code will follow the system-wide dress code for all of XCS.  Alignment of the student experience at all grade levels has been a priority since Xavier Catholic Schools became a school system in 2024.

NOTE: 2024-2025 Dress Codes Grandfathered In for 2025-2026  To give families the appropriate amount of time to plan, the dress codes in place for last school year (2024-2025) in our school will also be grandfathered in for the 2025-2026 school year. Students may wear apparel from our school’s dress code from last year OR the new XCS dress code.

Student Absences/Attendance

• Student Absences/Attendance – We ask that all student absences be communicated to the school office no later than 7:45am on the day of the absence. Please call or email Mrs. Ireland at (319) 396-7818 or  kathy.ireland@crxcs.org to report any changes to student attendance.

Parent Association

EACH LASALLE CATHOLIC MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENT/GUARDIAN is asked to complete this short questionnaire about their potential involvement in the LaSalle Catholic Parent Association before school begins.  This is a great way to meet other school families, foster our positive and safe school culture, encourage our incredible teachers and staff, and raise funds for the school.  Thank you very much for your active participation! 

Lunch Program Information
All Xavier Catholic Schools will be using the Meal Magic program for the 2025-26 school year. Parents will be able to log into their family account, view balances, add money, and apply for free/reduced lunches. More information will be coming soon about how to access accounts. If preferred, checks may be dropped off at the school for lunch accounts (it is not recommended to drop off/send cash). Please allow checks a few days to be deposited into lunch accounts. Parent Email Notifications

Parent email addresses used for school email communication to parents are pulled from the Contact section of PowerSchool. It is important that only your primary email is entered in your parent information during PowerSchool Registration as this is the email that we will use for this communication. Please email Mrs. Ireland at kathy.ireland@crxcs.org if another family member (in addition to father and mother) would like to receive this communication. We are continually working to streamline our communications to make them as applicable to as many of our families as possible, but appreciate your understanding in knowing that not every email may apply directly to you.

School Messenger – Instant Parent Contact

This year, our school will be using School Messenger, a system that syncs with PowerSchool to enable school personnel to notify all households and parents by text within minutes of an emergency or unplanned event which warrants parent notification. School Messenger is a company that specializes in school-to-parent communications. Our school (listed as our XCS system: “Cedar Rapids/Marion Xavier Catholic Schools”) will continue to report school closings due to snow or weather on the local radio, TV stations and social media and will use this system in addition to public announcements.
