Religion (PK3 & PK4)
At LaSalle Catholic, our youngest learners begin their faith journey with age-appropriate religious instruction designed to nurture their relationship with God.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (once per week): A hands-on, Montessori-inspired faith formation program where children explore Scripture, prayer, and the liturgy in a child-centered environment.
God Made Me (PK3): Introduces three-year-olds to the concepts of God’s creation, love, and presence in their daily lives through stories, songs, and interactive activities.
God Loves Me (PK4): Builds on the PK3 foundation by helping four-year-olds understand God’s love for them, the importance of prayer, and ways to live out their faith in everyday life.
Virtues Program: Helps children learn and practice Christ-like behaviors such as kindness, patience, honesty, and respect. The program integrates real-life examples and encourages children to reflect on how they can live out these virtues in their daily interactions.
These programs work together to foster a strong sense of spirituality, moral understanding, and belonging in our preschool community.
English/Language Arts (PK3 & PK4)
Our language arts program is designed to build foundational literacy skills through engaging, hands-on activities:
Heggerty Phonemic Awareness: Daily exercises that develop children’s awareness of sounds in words, helping them build strong reading foundations.
AlphaCode: A multisensory approach to learning letters and their corresponding sounds.
Eyewords – Colors, Shapes & Numbers: Small group rotations where children practice recognizing key sight words, identifying colors and shapes, and developing early math concepts.
These lessons combine whole-group instruction with small-group rotations to meet each child’s individual learning needs and promote confidence in reading, writing, and early numeracy skills.
Mathematics (PK3 & PK4)
Our math program develops early numeracy skills through hands-on exploration and guided practice:
Eyewords – Colors, Shapes & Numbers: Reinforces recognition of shapes, colors, and numbers.
Counting & Number Recognition: PK3 focuses on numbers 1–10, while PK4 extends to 20.
Simple Addition & Subtraction (PK4): Introduces basic arithmetic concepts through small group rotations, hands-on manipulatives, and playful activities.
These small-group rotations allow teachers to provide targeted instruction, helping each child build confidence and a strong foundation in mathematics while keeping learning fun and engaging.
Handwriting (PK4)
Our handwriting curriculum helps children develop fine motor skills and proper letter formation:
Handwriting Without Tears: A developmentally appropriate approach that teaches correct letter formation in a fun, hands-on way.
Writing of Own Name: Students practice writing both their first and last names, building confidence and independence in written communication.
Social-Emotional Learning (PK3 & PK4)
Social-emotional development is a key focus in our preschool programs, helping children recognize, understand, and manage their emotions while building positive relationships:
A Little SPOT of Emotions & Life Skills (PK3): Introduces three-year-olds to identifying emotions, practicing self-regulation, and learning basic life skills in engaging, age-appropriate ways.
A Little SPOT of Feelings & Emotions (PK4): Builds on PK3 skills to help four-year-olds recognize a wider range of emotions, practice empathy, and develop strategies for problem-solving and interacting positively with peers.
These programs support children’s emotional growth, confidence, and readiness for success in school and life.
PBIS Expectations (PK3 & PK4)
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) guide children to make safe, respectful, and responsible choices throughout the school day:
Hallways – Walking safely and using quiet voices
Classroom – Following directions, sharing, and being respectful
Playground – Playing safely and including others
Cafeteria – Using polite manners and cleaning up after themselves
Bathrooms – Practicing proper hygiene and respecting privacy
These expectations provide a consistent framework for children to develop self-discipline, responsibility, and positive social skills.

PK4-PM Class PE: Students participate in physical education twice per week to promote fitness, coordination, and healthy habits.
